Player Kenny McKinley Dead

Broncos wide receiver Kenny McKinley was found dead Monday at his Colorado home in an apparent suicide, police said.
"It was apparently a suicide, but we're still investigating," Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said.
Authorities were called to McKinley's home in central Centennial at about 3:25 p.m. Monday. McKinley's body was discovered in a second-floor bedroom with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The 23-year-old, second-year pro has been on the team's injured reserve list since early August with a knee injury. He played in eight games as a rookie in 2009, mostly on special teams, with seven kick returns for 158 yards. He suffered a season-ending knee injury in the second-to-last game
of last season and had surgery in the offseason.
Police were called after a woman discovered McKinley’s body after she returned home from running an errand with his child.
“It’s still part of our investigation and probably nothing we’ll talk about right now,” he said.
Kenny had been put on injured reserve after hurting his left knee in August for the second time in a year.
The Denver Broncos coach, Josh McDaniels said in a statement: “Kenny had a promising future on the football field, but more importantly, he was a great teammate whose smile and personality could light up the room. This is a tragic loss for our football team, and his family is in all of our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

Mark Dantonio Suffers Heart Attack

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio was hospitalized Sunday after suffering a mild heart attack shortly after an overtime victory against Notre Dame.
The 54-year-old Dantonio was taken to Sparrow Hospital hours after the game and had surgery to put a stent in a blocked blood vessel leading to the heart, which allowed blood flow to be restored. The coach is expected to remain in the hospital for at least a few more days.
"Damage to the heart muscle was minimal. I think he's going to do very well," said Dr. Chris D'Haem, who performed the relatively common procedure. "Coach Dantonio is resting comfortably following his procedure and is expected to make a full recovery."
Team members were notified of the situation Sunday, and offensive coordinator Don Treadwell will lead the team during Dantonio's indefinite absence. Dantonio won't be on the sidelines when the No. 25 Spartans play Northern Colorado on Saturday.

"This is a time for Spartan Nation to rally around Coach D and the football program," Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis said. "We all look forward to his return to the sidelines. The thoughts of the entire Spartan family are with Coach D, his wife Becky and his daughters Kristen and Lauren."...
Something about  Mark Dantonio:
Mark Dantonio has established himself as one of the nation's up-and-coming head coaches during his two seasons at the University of Cincinnati.
During that time, Dantonio has led the Bearcats to a bowl game victory, directed the team's transition into the BIG EAST Conference and established the groundwork for the future success of the program.
Fifteen of his players have earned all-conference honors. Twenty-five have received conference academic recognition. Six members of his first squads were on the rosters of of National Football League teams last fall. Eighteen members of the 2004 team completed their degrees.
Dantonio, who was named head coach at Cincinnati on Dec. 23, 2003, became the first head coach in 23 years to pilot a team to a winning season in his initial campaign at UC. The Bearcats' 7-5 record included a 5-3 mark in Conference USA, good enough for a second place finish. The Bearcats capped the season with a convincing 32-14 win over Marshall in the PlainsCapital Fort Worth Bowl.
During the 2005 season, Dantonio molded a team that ranked among the nation's youngest--the Bearcats started as many as five first-year freshmen on defense--to be a competitive squad in their first season in the BIG EAST en route to a 4-7 record.

Jimi Hendrix profile

* Born: 27 November 1942
* Birthplace: Seattle, Washington
* Died: 18 September 1970 (drug overdose)
* Best Known As: Performer of "Purple Haze"

Name at birth: Johnny Allen Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix grabbed electric guitar by the neck and wrestled it into a new era. His feedback-heavy solos and hallucinogenic tunes helped define the psychedelic 1960s. With his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience he recorded the albums Are You Experienced? (1967), Axis: Bold as Love (also 1967), and Electric Ladyland (1968, including Hendrix's version of Bob Dylan's tune "All Along the Watchtower"). The single "Purple Haze" from Are You Experienced remains one of rock's touchstone classics. The band broke up in 1969 but Hendrix remained a star, playing later that year at the Woodstock music festival. Hendrix was only 27 when he suffocated in 1970 after ingesting wine and sleeping pills in a London hotel.

Jimi, like Paul McCartney, was a left-handed guitar player... Hendrix's fuzz-guitar version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Woodstock has become a famous sound clip... He died two short weeks before another rock icon, Janis Joplin... A museum and interactive shrine to Hendrix, called the Experience Music Project, was built in Seattle by computer magnate Paul Allen.
